How to Point your GoDaddy domain to HostGator hosting
1. Pointing your Primary (Godaddy) Domain to Hostgator
If you have entered your registered domain name (from Godaddy) while signing up for hostgator, then you need to change the nameservers to that of HostGators’.
Note – Name servers is the element that point your domain name to where your actual website is located. As you’ll be hosting your domain to HostGator.com, you’ll need to change the nameservers to the HostGator server.
a. How to Find Your HostGator Nameservers
There are 2 ways you can get your HostGator nameserver. One is by opening your welcome email sent when you signed up for web hosting at HostGator Or you can find it in your cPanel. It will look something like this:
ns1.hostgator.com
ns2.hostgator.com

b. How to Enter Your Hostgator Nameservers on GoDaddy Domain
Log in to your GoDaddy account. Then, click on the Manage tab where the Domain is located. Choose the domain name for the nameservers you want to change.
In the domain management page, Navigate to nameservers and “Set Nameservers”.
You will have the option to choose Custom Nameserver. Just right beside that will be a link to Add Nameserver.
Paste the two hostgator nameservers which you copied in clipboard and Click OK. Your nameserver will then be directed to HostGator from now on. Wait for the changes to be completed.
Entering your domain name to HostGator as you sign up makes things a bit easier. You won’t have to add your domain to HostGator anymore. But if not, then here are the steps to do it
2. Pointing Your GoDaddy domain (Add on Domain) to HostGator
Log in to your HostGator cPanel. Under the Domains tab, click on “Add On Domains”. Enter the following information on the next page:
New Domain Name: This is the name of your domain you want to add to HostGator.
FTP Username/ Subdomain: Will be filled out automatically when you enter your domain name.
Document Root: Automatically filled as well.
Password: Enter your preferred password. (Make a note of it)
Then, click on Add Domain. The next page shows confirmation that your domain has been successfully added.
Wait for the changes to be applied in the next 24 hours.
